Summary

The article reviews the most urgent challenges of market economy - unemployment problems in postcommunist Georgia. It analyzes the causes and the main factors that have contributed to the development of those extraordinary trends that are characteristic to modern stage of economic development. The article also discusses the system of poverty and poverty indexes in the society. The author emphasizes the challenges of rural population, most of which are not statistically included in the category of unemployed.
